Yurt Camp Devon Wedding ~ Sam & Liam
Saying we were over the moon when Sam & Liam asked us to document their wedding day would be an understatement. Knowing them both personally added a special element to the wedding for us, and maybe some extra nerves/excitement!
These two are such a fun-loving, relaxed and totally laid back couple, which was perfectly reflected in their day. When they mentioned a ‘festival style’ theme, think cartoon eyes popping out of our heads with excitement! It was our first time as wedding photographers at the Yurt Camp Devon and we don’t think they could have picked a more perfect venue that reflected their personalities. It’s definitely now on our ‘top venues’ list and we would love to shoot more weddings there.
We began coverage like we mostly do, capturing the bridal preparations. Sam, along with her close family and best buddy Emily, all got ready at Sam’s parents house. Buttery toast was made and pressecco was drunk whilst grandma painted the little bridesmaids’ nails. A playlist was being played in the kitchen and we’d get entertained by sudden outbursts of singing & dancing from Sam & Emily. It was a totally relaxed morning. Sam’s soft hearted dad looked emotional & proud when she emerged in her wedding dress ready to go; it was a big gulp moment! Jen left bridal prep a little before Mel to find a cool and perfectly calm Liam adjusting his button hole with his best man, Andy. Liam had a last minute walk around the main barn where the BBQ was to be served making sure everything was just so and then spent time greeting guests before his bride arrived. They decided they wanted to get married outside and, just as Sam arrived with her Dad, the grey clouds cleared and sun came out.
There is something wonderful about preparing to shoot a wedding in the rain and then when it unexpectedly clears into the most gorgeous sunny evening, what a bonus! Giant jenga was played and some limbo dancing competitions were had. We were as pleased as punch that they were able to fully enjoy the gorgeous surroundings at the Yurt Camp and dance the evening away to some pretty cool bands, and a silent disco! Just how they’d imagined. Big love and future happiness to you both. Jen & Mel xx
