Devon Wedding Photographer ~ Best of 2020

This year’s special moments have been even more special because my couples have chosen to get married despite the restrictions of the pandemic. They’ve embraced the now familiar social media hashtag ‘love isn’t cancelled’ and celebrated their weddings days in their own unique ways. I had shot two weddings before COVID struck and since then things have been very different…

Usually, my end of year highlights include spontaneous hugs, crazy dancefloor moves and laughter at the speeches. My 2020 highlights might be socially-distanced but there are plenty of smiles and happy moments captured. I want to wish all my couples my heartfelt congratulations – you made it! You had your wedding your way with the people most special to you. And to all my couples who have chosen to postpone their big day ~ it will come and it will be amazing (and I’ll be there to capture it all!). I hope you enjoy this round up of my top 50 favourite moments.

This has been a year of ‘firsts’ for me. The first time I shot a wedding wearing a mask my camera kept steaming up! It’s surprising how quickly I got used to seeing guests in masks too. Rather than trying to avoid getting the masks in the photos, they are there to tell part of the story of weddings during a pandemic. There have been speeches and first dances outdoors. I even captured a ceremony through a open window from outside due to number restrictions!

Relaxed, natural wedding photographer in Devon

I’ve visited some of my regular Devon wedding venues this year including Rockbeare Manor and Bickley Mill. I’ve also been lucky enough to return to Trevenna Barns in Cornwall. New venues for me included New Barton Barns and Boringdon Hall, both near Plymouth.

I’ve really enjoyed looking back over the photos from this year’s weddings. I started the year with over 30 weddings in the diary. Although I’ve only managed to capture a dozen or so this year, each and every one reminds me why I do this job! These micro weddings and elopement weddings may have been small but they’ve been perfect.

I’m looking forward to 2021 and (hopefully) meeting all my couples again. Some of them booked me 2 or 3 years ago now so it’s going to be so lovely to finally capture their weddings.

You’ll find more highlights from my 2019 and 2018 weddings on the blog.
