Barn at South Milton wedding ~ Charlotte & Danny
Relaxed Summer Wedding at The Barn at South Milton
If you’re dreaming of a laid-back, rustic barn wedding with stunning views of the coast and the countryside, Charlotte & Danny’s summer wedding at The Barn at South Milton is a perfect example. I first met Charlotte when I was the photographer at her sister’s wedding and Charlotte was a bridesmaid. I was delighted when she chose me to capture her own big day. Together, we created a bespoke photography package as Charlotte preferred not to have bridal prep photos.
All Saints’ Thurlestone Church wedding ceremony
On the morning of the wedding, I made my way to the pretty South Hams village of Thurlestone where the groom and guests were gathering at The Village Inn.The wedding ceremony at All Saints’ Church in Thurlestone was so lovely to photograph. Charlotte was just the smiliest bride and I loved capturing the little looks between her and Danny. Afterwards, guests lined up outside the church for their confetti send off. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much confetti! My top tip if you’d like to recreate their confetti photos is to have lots of biodegradable paper confetti which really makes an impact. Charlotte and Danny made their way to their reception in a vintage VW camper.
Candid wedding photography at The Barn at South Milton, Devon
Paul and Paula run the show at The Barn at South Milton. It was so lovely meeting them on the day; nothing is too much trouble and they help create dream weddings for so many couples. The barn is decorated with twinkly lights (always a favourite) and Charlotte and Danny chose simple vases filled with pale pink roses and bright yellow sunflowers for a splash of colour. It was one of the hottest days of the year so the bar area and large umbrellas provided guests with some welcome shade as they enjoyed their welcome drinks. As always, I enjoyed capturing candid shots of guests throughout the afternoon and their reactions to the speeches. With years of experience capturing weddings across Devon, I always recommend taking a few more couple portraits later in the day when the harsh shadows are gone and the light is softer. As this had been a particularly hot day, after the meal, when the temperature had cooled a little, I took a short walk with the newlyweds to a nearby cornfield. It was perfect for some relaxed, romantic couple portraits. If you’d like candid photographs at your wedding, check out my guide on how to get natural, candid wedding photos.
Thank you so much for capturing our wedding day so perfectly. We absolutely love the pictures!
