Wedding Photography at Rockbeare Manor

A closer look at Rockbeare Manor

I’ve been photographing weddings at Rockbeare Manor near Exeter since they launched as a wedding venue back in 2016. It’s one of my favourite places to capture a wedding with stunning grounds and an amazing team that make the day run smoothly. It’s one of the most popular Devon wedding venues and I’m delighted to be one of their recommended wedding photographers. So, I thought it would be helpful to share some information about the venue alongside a selection of real wedding photos for inspiration. If you’re considering this elegant country house for your venue or have already booked, this guide will help you plan your day and give you tips to capture it perfectly!

My favourite photo spots at Rockbeare Manor

Over the years, I’ve found the best spots for your couple photos. The grounds of Rockbeare Manor provide a romantic backdrop for some relaxed portraits. We’ll take a stroll and stop at a few spots to get the best photos. The tree-lined driveway is really pretty with the light coming through the trees and the flower garden at the front of the house is perfect in the evening sun. The archways tucked away behind the house are great for some architectural detail and, of course, the manor house itself is also an elegant backdrop. Pro tip: did you know there’s a secret walled garden perfect for some quiet time away from your guests?

A look around Rockbeare Manor

Rockbeare Manor is a country manor house near Exeter which provides an elegant setting for your wedding. The Dining Room hosts the ceremony and The Ballroom is transformed for your wedding breakfast. I love walking in to see how it has been decorated for each wedding. Be it gorgeous flower arrangements or elegant décor with mirrors and candles, the room always looks stunning. It’s light and airy too so it’s great from a photographer’s point of view!

Where can we get ready on the wedding morning?

Rockbeare have recently renovated The Dairy where you can stay the night before your wedding and begin the morning’s preparations. Around noon, you’ll move to the main house where the spacious Drawing Room is a dream for bridal prep. The room gives a stunning backdrop as you finish having your hair and make-up done with your bridal party. I’ve captured countless brides getting ready for their big day here and I love all the pre-wedding excitement. You can get dressed in The Bridal Suite next door which is an ideal place to hang dresses for some detail shots and, of course, to capture lots of dress-pouffing! Top tip: gather all your accessories and stationery together ready for those detail photos. The games room downstairs in a place for the groomsmen to hang out before the ceremony so I’ll be sure to pop downstairs and get a few photos of the boys too!

Indoor and outdoor ceremony options

Rockbeare has the option for indoor and outdoor wedding ceremonies. The dining room is an elegant space with a gorgeous chandelier. You can add you own touches with chair covers, candles or flowers. It’s a lovely room in which to say ‘I do’ surrounded by family and friends. If you’re looking for a Devon wedding venue with indoor and outdoor options then this is definitely worth a look. There are a few options for outdoor ceremonies ~ the lawn, the summerhouse or in front of the main house.

Reception spaces at Rockbeare Manor

One of my favourite moments of the day is the confetti tunnel set against the manor house. As you walk between the two lines of guests, I love capturing that classic newlywed confetti shot. Guests then mingle outside over welcome drinks before taking their seats for the wedding breakfast. Everything runs like clockwork with a dedicated wedding planner on hand. I can definitely recommend the food (they feed the photographer too – always a bonus!). I love capturing the speeches and guests’ reactions. In the evening, I’ll stay for the first dance and some dance-floor action from your guests.
