Why I love photographing weddings at Deer Park

I’ve been capturing weddings at Deer Park for several years now so I’ve chosen some of my wedding photography to show you what a fabulous venue this is! It’s one of my favourite venues in Devon with so many beautiful backdrops for your wedding photos. Set in 80 acres near Honiton in Devon, this glamourous wedding venue can host up to 190 guests! So if you’re planning a big wedding, I’d recommend taking a look.

A look around Deer Park

This versatile Devon wedding venue has so many spaces for you and your guests to enjoy. You’ll find an Italian garden, light-filled orangery, comfortable lounges, and cottages for getting ready in the morning. There’s even a romantic tree house hideaway for the wedding night! I particularly like the orangery and from a photographer’s point of view there’s plenty of room to move around to capture those candid photos and it’s so light and airy.

Your ceremony and the best spots for couple photos

The ceremonies I’ve photographed at Deer Park near Honiton have all been outdoors although they do have indoor options just in case! The outdoor area has been refurbished in recent years and is a fabulous setting for you to exchange vows. There is a long aisle which is perfect for the arrival of the bride and those confetti shots. A pretty summerhouse is where you’ll sign the register. Your ceremony photos will capture all the emotions as you say ‘I do’ and the backdrop is just stunning. There are so many pretty spots around the grounds for some relaxed, newlywed portraits. Top tip: there’s a walled garden hidden away behind the main house where you can have a few moments away from your guests and have some photos taken. I’d recommend heading there after your meal when the golden hour light hits just right for those romantic couple photos. If the trees are in blossom that’s an added bonus!

Candid moments of your wedding reception

Guests can enjoy welcome drinks in the Italian garden, which gives me a great opportunity to capture those candid shots. The front lawn is a great spot for garden games and even a bouquet toss. The orangery hosts the wedding breakfast and it’s so light and airy that always looks stunning! It’s the perfect space for me to discreetly move around and capture all those reactions to the speeches! When the orangery is transformed for the evening I’ll be there to capture your first dance!
