Romantic Barn Wedding
Dipty and Ryan’s Hindu wedding in the Spanish Barn at Torre Abbey was a colourful mix of cultures. I was delighted when Dipty asked me to do her wedding photography as I knew it would be a treat to photograph! Blending Hindu traditions with a typical English wedding lead to some creative choices from the bride and groom. Dipty told me that she wanted to wear the traditonal Indian sari but instead of the red that brides usually favour, she chose white which is traditional in western weddings. The couple named it an ‘east meets west’ wedding and these little touches throughout the day mixed both cultures perfectly.
Spanish Barn Hindu Wedding Ceremony
The Hindu ceremony took place in the morning inside the Spanish Barn. Firstly, the bride’s mother performed a welcoming ritual when Ryan arrived. Once inside, the rest of the ceremony took place under the Mandrap which had been decorated by Tina at Twigs & Blooms. It was fascinating to watch the rituals like the couple being tied together by a knot and exchanging flower garlands. At the end of the ceremony, Ryan placed sindhoor (red powder) on Dipty’s forehead to demonstrate his promise to forever protect her. How romantic!
Torre Abbey Outdoor Wedding Ceremony
To legalise the marriage, Dipty and Ryan had a civil wedding ceremony in the afternoon. They exchanged the traditional English vows in the gardens of Torre Abbey. The tears and laughter were all captured on camera as always! We then took a few formal group shots before walking through the gardens for some natural couple portraits.
The Evening Do
The evening celebrations began with welcome drinks the gardens of Torre Abbey. The guests were entertained by singer Emma Pick. She has the most amazing voice so watch out for this up and coming Torbay talent! The evening continued with a feast of Indian food and a night of dancing.
