Shilstone House Devon Wedding ~ Sarah & Jonno
This year, I’m celebrating a decade in wedding photography! I’ve been taking a look back at some of my favourite weddings from the past 10 years. Sarah and Jonno had the perfect spring wedding at Shilstone House near Ivybridge in Devon. This Georgian manor house was a classic romantic backdrop to their wedding day. The marquee looked stunning all set up for their reception and they had thought of every little detail. Gorgeous florals, paper lanterns in spring colours and home-brewed wedding favours made their day unique.

Because Sarah and Jonno were both getting ready in the grounds of the estate, I was able to capture some groom prep first. The boys were hilarious as they tried to figure out how to tie a Windsor knot! And who knew folding a pocket square could be so complicated? Jonno was in a bit of a dilemma as his parents and his new bride had both bought him cufflinks to wear. The solution? Wear one of each! After capturing a flavour of the action I headed down to the cottage to find the girls who were busy with hair and make-up. I loved the moment when Sarah opened her gift from Jonno who had bought the perfect pair of earrings. Her face was a picture (literally).

The ceremony took place on Dartmoor at Manaton Church. After capturing the ceremony itself, I always keep watching when the witnesses are signing the register as it’s the first time the newlyweds have a little moment to themselves. Sarah checked out Jonno’s cufflinks and I couldn’t resist some candid bridal portraits in the pretty church light. The church has strong family connections for Sarah and her grandfather’s name is in the remembrance book. So, I made sure I captured a photo of this little detail.

Back at Shilstone House, guests mingled over welcome drinks and when they were called into the wedding breakfast, we made use of the time to capture some relaxed couple portraits in the garden. Inside, guests were treated to personalised bottles of Jonno’s home brew as their wedding favours. The whole day went smoothly and guests partied on into the evening.
