Industrial chic wedding in the Devon countryside
Millie and Jonny first booked me as photographer for their Upton Barn wedding three years ago. In what is now a familiar story, they had to postpone due to the pandemic so it was extra special to finally capture their wedding day! Millie works as an event co-ordinator and she had lovingly planned every little detail. From the bridesmaids’ gifts to hangover kits for the guests, she’d thought of everything.
The girls got ready at home and it was lovely to be amongst all the giggles as I captured those last minute touches to hair and make-up. The flower girls had glitter hairspray and the adult bridesmaids decided they’d like some too!
Candid wedding photography in Devon
At Upton Barn, the ceremony took place outdoors in the stunning walled garden. Millie and Jonny couldn’t stop smiling! Guests enjoyed welcome drinks in the sunshine, which is my favourite part of the day for capturing those candid guest photos. The Stable Barn looked stunning and has an industrial chic feel with festoon lights wrapped around exposed steel beams. Jonny had planned a surprise for Millie during the speeches. He’d hired a singer/songwriter to sing a bespoke song to Millie. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house (apart from the little girl happily playing in her den under the top table!).
Upton Barn is perfect for wedding photography. The spring blossom made a pretty backdrop for some relaxed, couple photos before the evening celebrations began. The party was in full swing when I left. I wonder how many guests needed those hangover kits the next day! I hope you enjoy this little snapshot of Millie and Jonny’s amazing day…
