Elopement weddings in Devon
Elopement weddings are becoming increasingly popular. Traditionally, eloping meant running away in secret but more recently they have evolved to include small weddings with just a few guests or perhaps the witnesses. I have captured several elopement weddings in Devon in so I thought I’d put together a little post to show you how amazing they can be!
Elopement wedding at Cockington, Torquay
Rachel and Keith were married in front of a handful of friends in an intimate ceremony. It was a sunny September day, which was perfect for some relaxed couple photos in the grounds of Cockington. There were just enough guests for us to create a fab confetti shot too!
Elopement wedding at Larkbeare House, Exeter
Vincent and Martina held their intimate wedding at Larkbeare House in Exeter. I met them just before the ceremony as they wanted to capture some ‘first look’ photos. As they exchanged vows, they live-streamed to family abroad. I love the shot of them walking back down the aisle ~ they had the biggest smiles on their faces! We had a walk around the grounds in the late afternoon sunshine capturing some relaxed couple portraits. Later in the day, the newlyweds hosted a virtual reception with friends and family and they’re hoping to do it for real sometime soon!
Elopement wedding at Hotel du Vin, Exeter
It was third time lucky for Emily and Jesse who’d had to rearrange their wedding not once but twice. Their original date fell in lockdown so we kept in touch and they eventually got married in October. They’d had their wedding rings engraved with the May date but they didn’t mind, they said this just adds to the story of their wedding! I met Emily for some bridal prep photos at Hotel du Vin in Exeter. She and Jesse then held their ceremony just down the road at Larkbeare House. We had a stroll around the grounds for some relaxed couple photos. Afterwards, the newlyweds and their guests returned to the hotel for a celebratory meal. Their smiles say it all! It may not have been the big wedding they originally planned but they were so happy to finally be getting their special day!
Elopement wedding at Boringdon Hall, Plymouth
Liz and Heather were looking for a wedding photographer for their elopement wedding. I was delighted when they booked me for a few hours to capture their ceremony at Boringdon Hall. They said ‘I do’ in front of five guests and toasted their wedding afterwards with bubbly in the garden. They had asked for some group photos which we took in front of Boringdon Hall. Then we took a stroll around the gardens to capture some relaxed, couple portraits. For their reception, they had an intimate meal in a private dining room, which I left them to enjoy!
